I wish I still lived a block from ABC No Rio. Erik Petersen never seems to come to the Midwest, which is understandable.

I’m “Artist of the Month” in the upcoming ImagineFX, so I won some art books. Hurray for free things!
I also got three pieces in Exposé 11, including my Guyver portrait, attached

I got flown out to attend an illustration workshop in LA, so I got to meet Dave Dorman, Larry Elmore, Steve Hickman, Cliff Nielsen, Ty Carter, and others from a couple of studios.
I got to see some of DisneyToon’s “restricted areas”, saw some unannounced film projects. We have to sign an NDA just to walk in the place, of course, but it was amazing to see their workflow in action. The sheer volume of art produced is insane
Ignore the unflattering photo, they copied my ID for the badge.
I got a free signed poster from Larry, though I don’t have a pic of it right now. Also doing a poster swap with Steve Hickman
I’m going to attend C2E2 next week, hang out with Dave Dorman for a bit. Also planning to visit his studio in the near future.
Also my Holy Days painting won some tasty prize money after the artists named above selected it for a contest. I’m using some of that money to go to Illuxcon in September.

I painted a portrait of Guy Davis’ Marquis. I think I finally sorted out my new workflow. I’m sure I’ll retract that statement come my next painting
He sent me a very nice email full of exclamation points
Because it was such a simple graphic image, I spent a lot of time doing crazy variations, one magenta heavy version of which I’ve attached. I’m sure I could have finished it in a single sitting otherwise.
It was a fun one to work on, painting those crazy eyes
I’ve been doing a fair bit of 3d work recently, though nothing I’m particularly willing to show off at the moment. But I thought everyone could appreciate the friendly kitty I’ve sculpted. It’s an older image and doesn’t reflect recent changes
The second image is the very first 3d piece I did, a self portrait. It’s weird enough having a digital double, but the hairless thing is too much
Spectrum 20 selections are up http://spectrumfantasticart.com/
It’s my first time getting picked. Fun stuff
